Logic vs. Reason

Category: Lab

Not what you may be thinking, this isn't about ideas and thoughts, its about the 2 software packages for creating, mixing, and producing music. There are updates that we will see in the month of September to both lines, and this is the main reason I will not be playing as much Halo 3 as I would like!

Apple purchased the original owner of the German product that C-Lab created; Emagic was moved under Apple's control and Logic Studio never saw the windows platform again. On the 12th of September Apple released the latest installment of Logic, Logic Studio, everything mac fans need to get in the lab again before the cold weather hits. No one (in the midwest) makes good music when the weather is always nice outside!

Prepared for the direct competition, Propellerhead software, a Swedish company, is set to release the 4th installment of its production powerhouse software Propellerhead's Reason. One thing that still seems to be missing from Reason, is recording, not a huge deal because most studios are using Pro Tools, or Digital Performer, or Logic, but when it comes to preparing, chopping, and laying down samples, a nice input would help tons.

I am a fan of reason as I can travel between the Windows and Mac OS X platforms, not that I do that often; but when you think about it, you have tons of samples and instruments, that can work on 2 different setups, its perfect. When Logic was available for the PC I was just starting to get involved with fully encompassing DAWs, so now that it is Mac OS X only, I can't buy in all the way, not yet. Oh, and I have like 20 GBs of samples and instruments for Reason! I forgot to mention that.

For more information, I know I would never be able to fully explain the functionality of both, visit the respective websites.
