Will the real Joseph Ferguson please stand up? When I go to google to view my current page rank I frequently find the rest of the Joseph Fergusons of the world. Here is my disambiguation for all those interested.
I am Joseph Dover Bell Ferguson named after my family members.
Joseph - My paternal grandmother's maiden name.
Dover - My maternal grandmother's maiden name.
Bell - My mother's maiden name.
Ferguson - My father's last name.
I am Joseph Dover Bell Ferguson, the only Joseph Ferguson that I could find that is a web developer, writer, producer, DJ, computer technician, philosopher, ex - football player out there.
Although I played football (and soccer), there is a more famous football Joseph Ferguson. Joseph Carlton Ferguson was a professional football player drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 1973 as a quarterback. In fact I get this guy's Gmail every now and then. He battled not only on the field, but also with cancer in 2005. He is fortunately healthy and cancer free.
Although I sometimes have a temper I am no where close to this next Joseph Ferguson.
Joseph (Middle Name not found) Ferguson went on a killing spree in California in September of 2001. This guy went on a rampage around Sacramento ending with a suicide.
In a coincidence of tragedy. There was also a Joseph Ferguson killed days later during the September 11th attacks.
Although I live in Ohio I never have been investigated for child porn or drug trafficking like Joseph R. Ferguson was arrested after having his house searched for illegal drugs. The search turned up child pornography as well. Now I guess the guy works at a club running the light and sound board controls. Still not me! This is probably one of the reasons I am on the "suspicious" list for airlines. It requires me to show my ID and identify my stuff to airline attendants.
Another Joseph Ferguson is a DJ, but still not me. This Joseph Ferguson, the naked DJ is known for being naked when performing. Again, not me, but interesting.
I have been known to cut a rug myself; but Joe Ferguson is a member of a "steppers" group in Chicago.
Across the internet there are still hundreds of Joseph Fergusons. A google search will introduce you to a Joseph Ferguson that blogs and Joseph Ferguson that does web development. There are pro sports players and artists. I found a carjacking convict in Co, and a police officer in LA.
I would like to say for the sake of arguing, that Joseph Ferguson is a great name.

My name isn't especially common, but I'd like to say that I have never sold insurance in Tennessee. My father was Charles, not Loring, he was a systems analyst born in Philadelphia and not a General born in Maryland, and he never had a Citadel scholarship for distinguished service named after him. He wrote bad poetry and computer games, much like me :)

Yeah, its crazy how easy it is to find someone with your name that is doing something so different. In my instance, I found guys doing very similar things, and in some cases they are direct competitors.

It's a pretty common name in the Ritchie branch of the family, but the Himelrights generally passed the middle name from father to firstborn son. I can't really point to another David in my dad's line, but it's pretty common among the Ritchies. Lots of Williams and other typical anglicized German names.
When I first met you I thought of the Fergusons from back home, big Democratic political family, all over the place in education in law enforcement. Not a bad name to have all things considered.

This post explains why I got so many hits to my blog on Saturday. I don't think I am on any "suspicious persons" list because I am never bothered when traveling by air. Maybe you look suspicious? Do you go by "Joe", "Joey" or "Joseph"?

Around work and with friends I go by Joe, but my parents and family like using the heritage name Joseph.
